Impressive Auto Transport was subcontracted to deliver my Cadillac CTS-V. The rate was reasonable and the delivery time from very quick. I took the day off to receive the vehicle and was assured repeatedly it would delivered early in the day. It arrived last, near 5pm. What was odd is that although it was last, it was on the top of the transport alone. Also, I was told by a phonecall by the driver that he was on South Beach, at least an hour away and 15 minutes later he was at my house. Once car was unloaded, I was promptly handed the keys and asked to sign the delivery paperwork. They did apologize for the delay in delivery but then quickly got in the truck and took off quickly.
This was my first transport experience, but I learned a valuable lesson. Do NOT sign delivery paperwork until you've had a chance to do a full inspection of the vehicle. The reason it was on top and the delay was because they had damaged the roof rails of my very expensive and rare wagon. I cleaned the car immediately and noticed the damage. I thought it odd because there was a rudimentary touch up paint job done on the damage on both sides. I thought maybe it was something the seller of the vehicle forgot to mention. Upon inspection of sale pictures I could see the damage didn't exist prior, which I confirmed with the seller.
Luckily, seller had someone take pictures of the vehicle being loaded who said it was loaded very precariously with a large full size van above it and it was not strapped well. Anyway, long story short, the shipping company I had originally paid (that sub'd to Impressive) gave me a partial settlement after 2 weeks of back and forth and getting them multiple quotes. I got a reasonable quote on the repair and they are covering most of it, but someone else's mistake is still costing me money out of pocket, and now my vehicle will have non-original paint on a section. Very shady and very upsetting.
In the end, anyone can make a mistake...
