I paid the premium/expedited rate for this carrier. They did not come on the original day, then tried to force pickup at a time the next day that wasn't doable. They picked up my great grandfather's non-running ‘51 Chevy 1/2 ton on a single flatbed, pulled by a large SUV a couple of days after the original date. The doors, grill, tailgate, drive train, seat, and right fender were ratchet trapped in the bed with 2 straps. This contract was agreed upon with Star knowing that there were items in the bed of this non-running truck with had flat tires which could be aired up for loading and unloading at pick-up and delivery. They winched it on, and left. They scheduled, no-showed, and changed it many times. They told me that I would have to have a tow truck tow my '51 from the street as it was on an 18-wheeler. I wasn’t told they transferred my '51 to a big rig, and I had paid for door-to-door service, not door-to-street service. After telling them that their cash payment at delivery would be less, they changed their mind. It finally shows up, I help guide the driver to a spot that he could drop it, with room to exit. He insisted on backing in more and got high-centered. I had to tow my ’51 off the trailer. He had to be towed off of where he got stuck. Cut to unloading the ‘51. There were boot prints all over the hood and roof. There was only 1 green ratchet strap and the fender was gone. I reached out to NTS (broker) who assured me they would look into it. Star was made aware at 8:13PM 10/21/2021 by me. He said “don’t know. Let me call driver.” No return. I texted again on 10/22/2021 at 10:46AM and was told “I think he is sleeping at Minneapolis, hasn’t answered the call yet.” I asked “Since it was lost during transport, how do we go about getting compensated. It was original to the truck and won’t be easy to replace.” His response was “we don’t know yet.” The cost for a replacement fender ranges from $400 to $1100 depending on original vs. newly manufactured.
