I booked through amerifreight and was told by a dispatcher/carrier that I could indeed use a check. The day of the drop off the driver informed me that I couldn’t. I asked if there was another option of payment and he said Zelle. I downloaded the app and tried to use it for payment. It would not work. This all happened on Christmas Eve at 8pm. I tried to explain to the driver that I could pay another way (check, card, etc) but at 8pm on Christmas Eve there probably wouldn’t be anywhere for me to get cash. The driver was very rude to me. We were trying to communicate via google translate and I tried to explain the situation. He said no payment no vehicle and loaded my vehicle up while I tried to contact the company. He drove off, soon after I contacted the company and paid via credit card. This was 10 minutes after he drove away. They said he would bring the vehicle back within an hour. I was sent text messages saying that I must pay 100 dollars extra (from the carrier) if I wanted my vehicle back or I must uber 50 miles to come get it. My vehicle did not arrive back to me until midnight (4 hours after he left). I was very disappointed by the unprofessional manner of the driver as I asked to call the company to see if there would be another way to pay. I ubered all the way across town to pick up a tip earlier in the day for the driver since it was Christmas Eve. Needless to say, it was quite the ordeal that could have been easily remedied by a quick phone call. He chose to leave instead and would not return with my vehicle for 4 hours.
